Santa Claus:

1. Make equal recipes of red and white dough, 1/2 recipe of flesh colored. (Add acrylic paint in salt and water mixture until water is desired color. For white dough, add white paint to have a whiter looking dough, otherwise it comes out a yellowish color.) Assemble on aluminum foil lined cookie sheet.

Body

2. Roll 2" ball of red dough into a teardrop shape. Sit on top of twig for swing. See pattern.

Legs

3. Roll two 1" balls of red dough into 2" coils flatten slightly. Attach to lower half of body using a few drops of water painted on with a small paintbrush and press together gently. Turn bottom ends up slightly for feet.

Arms

4. Roll two 1/2" balls of red dough into one 1/2" coils attach to upper body with a few drops of water. Indent slightly on end of arm with a sharp knife, to make thumb.

Head

5. Roll a 1" ball of flesh colored dough, flatten slightly, attach to top of body with a few drops of water.

Belt

6. Cut a thin strip of red dough attach to belly.

Beard and mustache

7. Roll a 1" ball of white dough flatten into a triangle. Poke the dough with a straw repeatedly over and over to get the texture desired, attach to head. Do the same to two small teardrop shaped pieces of dough for mustache attach to beard.

Hat and fur

8. Roll a 3/4" of red dough into a triangle. Attach to top of head for hat. Roll white dough into 1/4" coils texture with straw. Cut pieces to fit on arms, legs and hat for fur. Cut star with small cookie cutter for end of hat.

9. Roll small ball of flesh colored dough for nose, attach two small cigar shaped pieces of white dough for eyebrows.

I believe in Santa sign

10. Roll 1" ball of white dough flatten, indent with sharp knife to look like cloud. Poke holes with the end of the paintbrush on the top and bottom.

Bake

11. Bake in a 150 degree oven until completely hard (4-5 hrs.).

Paint

12. Paint shoes and belt black, gloves green and star gold. Add blush to cheeks and nose by using a little rose paint on a dry paintbrush. Use a toothpick dipped in black paint to dot eyes.

13. Coat 4-5 times with clear acrylic spray, following manufacturer's directions.

14. Write "I Believe in Santa!" on cloud with a fine point permanent marker.

15. Glue twig to Santa's bottom if it doesn't stay on its own. Tie two pieces of jute to twig and I Believe in Santa sign. Glue jute to Santa's hands with a small dab of silicon glue. Attach wire to top of sign to hang.
